Last weekend saw a collision of science and art, as people from all walks of life came together at the Godlee Observatory in the Sackville Street Building of The University of Manchester. As part of the Fun Palaces series this year, we took part in teaching interested artists and scientists alike, all about meteorites and how they shaped the solar system we live in; and in return we learnt how phenomena that we deal with on a daily basis, can be transformed into spectacular works of art.
To name just a few of the activities on offer: Creative writing, pastel sketches of astronomical phenomena, telescope tutorials, and of course- meteorites! All helping to set the scene for an entertaining evening for all. We caught a few photos of some of the pieces of art at the end of the night:
From us here at Earth & Solar System, a massive thank you to the organisers and participants of this great event!
